Description	:	Robert “Bob” Clayton Crouse, 96, formerly from Monticello, IN and Winter Haven, FL died on Dec.ember 8, 2020. He was a resident of Meadowmere Assisted Living Facility in Mequon, WI. Bob was born on July 23, 1924 to Floyd K. and Iva Pearl (Yundt) Crouse of Rossville, IN. Bob graduated from Monticello High School in 1943 and was inducted into the Army the following day. Bob was born on July 23, 1924 to Floyd K. and Iva Pearl (Yundt) Crouse of Rossville, IN. Bob graduated from Monticello High School in 1943 and was inducted into the Army the following day. He married his high school sweetheart, Mildred Edith "Mickey" Williams while home on furlough in May of 1944. Shortly thereafter, Bob was shipped overseas, landing at Utah Beach in Normandy on July 27, 1944 and assigned to Patton’s Third Army – 12th Corps. Bob’s military service was among the many memories he cherished throughout his life. Those memories included revisiting Normandy and walking Utah Beach in 1991 with his young granddaughters while visiting his youngest daughter’s family living in France at that time. He treasured taking an honor flight with daughter Edie on 9/8/2017. He proudly wore his WWII Veteran hat and jacket whenever he left his residence. Bob’s early work included being the cheerful “Jewel Tea” man and selling insurance, before settling into his 27-year career as Postmaster in Monticello, IN, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. Outside of the office, he was a PTA President, Kiwanis Club President, choir member of the First Presbyterian Church and an active member of the Democratic Party in White County, IN. Bob and Mickey’s travels also took them to Australia and Tasmania while visiting his oldest daughter who was living in Sydney. Upon retiring, Bob and his wife moved to Winter Haven, FL where they became active in the Hope Presbyterian Church. Bob also served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the Winter Haven Library. He loved to spend time with family, travel, read, cook, bake, grill and watch various sports on TV. Many of these traits he lovingly passed along to his three daughters. He was an avid exerciser during adulthood, enjoying walking, running, swimming, biking and more recently cruising the hallways of Meadowmere Assisted Living Residence. Bob is survived by three daughters; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers, James Crouse and Floyd Crouse Jr; and one sister, Mary Jean Miller.
