He was born November 8, 1933 in Ashtabula the son of Clyde and Irene (McCarty) Strubbe and has been a lifetime area resident. Strubbe, Sr. 83 of Plymouth Twp. died Sunday (March 5th) at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland. He was born November 8, 1933 in Ashtabula the son of Clyde and Irene (McCarty) Strubbe and has been a lifetime area resident. He was a 1951 graduate of Ashtabula High School and served in the U.S. Airforce during the Korean Conflict and was discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1957. He married Marilyn Jute on October 12, 1957. He was employed with Ashtabula Telephone and then Alltel in Ashtabula for 43 years until his retirement. Mr. Strubbe was a member of Our Lady of Peace, Mt Carmel Church and also attended St. Joseph Church in Jefferson, He was also a member of Ashtabula VFW Post #943; a life member of the Ashtabula Rod & Gun Club and a life member of the Plymouth Twp. Fire Department. He enjoyed reading westerns especially Louis L ’Amour and watching John Wayne movies. He also enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and going camping. Surviving him are his wife, Marilyn; three sons, Robert, Jr. (Terri), James and William (Lissa) all of Ashtabula; six grandchildren, Jason, Christina, Erin (Marc) Bovee, Kayla, Laura and Gregory, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Jack Strubbe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday (March 10th) at 11:00 AM at the Our Lady of Peace, Mt. Carmel Church, 1200 East 21st St. Ashtabula with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Saybrook Twp. American Legion Post #103 will conduct military rites. Calling hours will be Thursday (March 9th) from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 526 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula.
