The couple lived on the family farm near New... Read More	* IN LOVING MEMORY OF * Robert C. Borglum was born on Tuesday; September 18, 1923, in Nashua; Chickasaw County, Iowa. He was the son of Coronel and Bess Mae (Strike) Borglum. Robert graduated from the Nashua High School in 1941. Bob farmed with his parents on the New Hartford family farm until he was drafted into the United States Army in 1943. He served in Hawaii and Saipan and was honorably discharged in February, 1946. Bob was united in marriage with Louise Gerber on Sunday; November 17, 1946. The couple lived on the family farm near New Hartford; Butler County, Iowa until 1955. Louise passed away in 1996. Bob married Lorraine Peg Schultz on Saturday; August 26, 2000 in Nashua, Iowa. In 1955 Bob and Louise moved to Toledo; Tama County, Iowa where they bought an LP gas business and also opened an appliance and TV store. From 1963 to 1965, he traveled the Midwest states selling pharmaceuticals. They moved to Clarksville; Butler County, Iowa in 1965 and Bob managed the American Cyanamid plant. In 1975, they opened B&G Nursery with their son-in-law, Bruce Ringleb. They continued with the nursery business until he semi-retired in 1987. Bob still maintained an annual garden shop out of his garage and provided landscaping services when asked. Bob never wanted to waste anything and enjoyed attending sales and auctions to find "treasures". He had great memories of making cider out of fallen apples in the autumn. Fishing was his passion including family vacations to Minnesota and salmon fishing with his brother in Oregon. Bob was very competitive at playing cards, 500 and cribbage and didn't like to lose. He was great at flipping pancakes, especially for the annual Lions pancake breakfast. Bob was a member of Community United Methodist Church in Clarksville, Iowa where he served on the Church Board. He felt it was important to be active in the community and served on many boards and committees. Among the groups he belonged to were: the Clarksville Lions Club, Masons, Clarksville AMVETs, 4-H Leader, Cub Scout Pack Leader, Soybean Assoc., Iowa Nurserymen Assoc. and the Butler County Republican Party. Robert Borglum, age 85, passed away on Sunday; October 12, 2008, at the Allison Health Care Center in Allison; Butler County, Iowa of natural causes. Those left to mourn his passing are: His wife: Peg (Schultz) Borglum, of Cedar Falls; Black Hawk County, Iowa. His children: James (Maxine) Borglum of Waverly; Bremer County, Iowa. Jeffrey (Casey) Borglum of Wyoming and Minnesota. Donald (DeAnn) Borglum of Clarksville, Iowa. Mary (Morgan) Masters of Ankeny; Polk County, Iowa. Karen (Bruce) Ringleb of Tahlequah; Cherokee County, Oklahoma and Peggy (Barry) Bentley of Fayette; Fayette County, Iowa. His fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren, three step-children; his eight step-grandchildren and his four step-great-grandchildren. His two brothers: Keith (Joyce) Borglum of Waterloo; Black Hawk County, Iowa and Don Borglum of Coos Bay; Coos County, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Louise in 1996; his parents; three grandchildren, Ann Louise Ringleb, Betsy Borglum and Adam Borglum; also one brother: Paul Borglum. May they rest in peace. Visitation will be from: 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday; October 15, 2008 at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at: 10:00 a.m. on Thursday; October 16, 2008 at the Community United Methodist Church. Interment will be at the Lynnwood Cemetery in Clarksville, Iowa.
