Description	:	Robert D. Cooper, 88, of rural Kellogg, died on April 1, 2020, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell. Due to mandates as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, a private family graveside service and burial will be held at our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg. Cooper, 88, of rural Kellogg, died on April 1, 2020, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell. Due to mandates as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, a private family graveside service and burial will be held at our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg. Robert was born on January 21, 1932, in Newton, the son of Shelby and Mabel Benson Cooper. He was raised in the Kellogg area and was a 1950 graduate of Grinnell High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War. On October 31, 1954, he married Florence Maria Henning, at the Kellogg United Methodist Church. For many years, Robert and his wife ran a successful farm operation while raising their family. They were a good team and developed a strong bond while working together. Robert also enjoyed raising and working with his hogs. He loved his life on the farm and working from sunrise to sunset every day. He certainly knew and appreciated the value of hard work. Robert loved his family and enjoyed attending his granddaughters' activities, wherever they might take him. He was one of their biggest fans. He enjoyed fishing, square dancing on Saturday nights, and in later years, traveling with the Grinnell State Bank Heritage Club on their bus trips. One of his joys was participating as a veteran on a Honor Flight to Washington DC. Robert is survived by his two children, Carol (David) Kielly of Baxter and Art Cooper of Kellogg; and twin granddaughters, Sarah (Zach) Blunt of Waterloo and Hannah Kielly and her fiancé, Nick Waite of Coralville.
