Description	:	Robert was the son of James Martin and Aletha E. Duckworth. He was born in Cloverdale Indiana. He moved with his parents to Roone county Iowa when 4 years old and located in Decatur county where he lived for forty years. He was married to Miss Adelia Sears on Dec.4, 1870 who passed away in 1892. To this union five children were born, two of whom survive. In 1908 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Kitty C. Bernard and moved to Elimore, California, where they lived for about 17 years. In 1925... Read More	Robert was the son of James Martin and Aletha E. Duckworth. He was born in Cloverdale Indiana. He moved with his parents to Roone county Iowa when 4 years old and located in Decatur county where he lived for forty years. He was married to Miss Adelia Sears on Dec.4, 1870 who passed away in 1892. To this union five children were born, two of whom survive. In 1908 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Kitty C. Bernard and moved to Elimore, California, where they lived for about 17 years. In 1925 Mr. and Mrs. Martin moved to Nyack, New York, where they made their home with Dr. Pierre Bernard, a son of Mrs. Martin. Since the death of Mrs. Martin in 1931, he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Edith Martin of Mobile, Ala. Most of the the time Mr. Martin lived in Decatur county was spent in farming. In 1902 he was elected sheriff of Decatur county and served one term. For nine years he supervised the road work in the county. He became a member of Grand River Lodge No 78 in June 1883 and at the time of his death he was a member of Fillmore Lodge No. 379 of Fillmore California and of Kaaba Temple, A.a.O.N.M.S. of Davenport, Iowa. He leaves to mourn his loss his daughter, Mrs. Edith Martin and his son, Fred W. Martin. Funeral services were held at the Stewart Funeral Home Sunday afternoon and burial followed in the Leon cemetery.
