Description	:	Robert E. Davis, 88, of Osceola, formerly of Shelby, passed away Aug. 18, 2011, at Annie Jeffrey Memorial County Health Center in Osceola. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Shelby Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. John Rooney officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today at Dubas Funeral Home in Osceola, with a 7 p.m. rosary. Interment will be in the Shelby Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Dubas Funeral Home of Osceola and Stromsburg has been entrusted with arrangements. Robert was born Aug. 23, 1922, in Shelby, to Silas and Rosa (Lockard) Davis. He attended Shelby School and graduated in 1940. On July 21, 1942, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Marie Lux. To this union, three sons were born. Over the years they made their home in Spalding, Silver Creek, Fullerton and Shelby. After settling in Shelby, Bob farmed south of town with Oswald Lux, Evelyn's dad. He also was employed at Shelby Oil Company, a Texaco station. The Shelby Oil Company was later bought by Farmers Coop, then becoming the Farmer's Coop gas station. Bob continued to work there and at the Coop grain elevator until he retired in 1982. In their early retirement, they enjoyed camping, traveling, gardening, hitting the casinos and tinkering with a variety of stuff. After residing in Shelby for 38 years, they sold their home in 2003 and moved to Ridgeview Heights in Osceola. Evelyn passed away on June 11, 2004. Bob continued at Ridgeview Heights until he moved to the Osceola Good Samaritan Society, where he resided until his passing. Survivors include two sons, Wayne (Patty) Davis, of Columbus, and Rick (Deb) Davis, of Shelby; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; one infant son, William; two brothers, Dale and Perry Davis; and one sister, Opal Scow.
