Description	:	OAKLAND - Robert "Bob" Thompson, 66, of Oakland, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Thayer Campus in Waterville, after a sudden illness. He died in the intensive care unit surrounded by his loving family and the most attentive, caring nurses and doctors. He was born in Waterville on Sept. 26, 1946, the son of the late Basil and Hilda (Taylor) Thompson. Read More	OAKLAND - Robert "Bob" Thompson, 66, of Oakland, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Thayer Campus in Waterville, after a sudden illness. He died in the intensive care unit surrounded by his loving family and the most attentive, caring nurses and doctors. He was born in Waterville on Sept. 26, 1946, the son of the late Basil and Hilda (Taylor) Thompson. Bob graduated from Lawrence High School, class of 1964, and has been a faithful follower of every school sports event since that time. After high school he entered the National Guard for six years, being honorably discharged as a corporal. He was employed by Maine Central Railroad for several years and Marden's for more than 20 years, and he retired at age 62. In his early years, he coached a Fairfield PAL baseball team for several years He was predeceased by a brother, Ronnie. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Martha Hosea Thompson; his two daughters, Rebecca Thompson of Oakland, and Melinda (Thompson) Moody and her husband, Jason Moody, of Brooks. He was a wonderful papa to his two grandsons, Christian and Kaleb Moody, and barely had a chance to get to know his brand new granddaughter, Gabriella, whom he so looked forward to. He is also survived by his sister Debra White and her husband, Dave, of Fairfield; and a wonderful niece, Megan White, also of Fairfield. Burial will be held in the spring at Maplewood Cemetery.
