Description	:	Robert Booth, Sr. 75, of Creston formerly of Sharpsburg, died, Tuesday November 29, 2011 at the Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston. Private family memorial services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the Hopeville Cemetery. Robert Eldon Booth, Sr. was the first born to Juddie Joe and Guila (Thorn) Booth in Hopeville Iowa on February 13, 1936. The Booth family traveled following the road construction crews his father worked with settling in Murray, Iowa. Bob attended school in Murray through the eighth grade, while helping with his father's trucking business during those years. Robert Eldon Booth, Sr. was the first born to Juddie Joe and Guila (Thorn) Booth in Hopeville Iowa on February 13, 1936. The Booth family traveled following the road construction crews his father worked with settling in Murray, Iowa. Bob attended school in Murray through the eighth grade, while helping with his father's trucking business during those years. At the age of eighteen, Bob enlisted in the army serving in the Korean conflict. He met Evelyn McKee of Creston after returning from overseas and seven children were born to this union, Wesley, Charlene, Valarica, Terry, Gary, Robert Jr., and Artie. Bob worked in road construction for many years throughout the Midwest, western United States and Texas creating many friendships along the way. The family moved several times in the early years settling in Sharpsburg, Iowa for the past 39 years. Bob served on the City Council and on the Fire Department of Sharpsburg and helped with the town's celebrations over Labor Day. The family still uses Labor Day weekend as a time to reconnect as families have grown. Bob retired as a finish blade hand from road construction in 2001. Bob always enjoyed hunting and fishing with his kids and water racing dogs. Most of all Bob enjoyed music. Over the years he played with various local bands or would jam with any family members willing to sing or play with him. During their recent move from their Sharpsburg home to Creston, Bob's request was for the guitars and amplifiers to be moved first. A good game of hearts was another family favorite, using as many decks as possible. After retiring, Bob and Evelyn would be found fishing wherever possible. Bob lost his long battle with lung cancer at the Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston. Left to cherish the memories of their husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather are his wife Evelyn, and their children Wesley (wife Joyce) Booth of Stanton Ia., Charlene (husband Dave) Pullen of Diagonal Ia., Valarica (husband Robert) Olfers of Austin, Texas, Terry (wife Holly) Booth of Sharpsburg Ia., Gary (wife Jacque) Booth of Creston, Robert Booth Jr. of Bedford Ia. and Artie (wife Tammy) Booth of Kellerton Ia.; seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren: Diana (husband Eric) Fletchall with daughters: Victoria and Vanessa, Teresa (husband Cheyene) Sparks with son Brody and newborn daughter all of Villisca, Ia. and John Booth (friend Jennifer Evans) of Stanton Ia.; Travis Tullis and sons Kaden and Hunter of Corning Ia., Melissa Booth of Murray, Ia. and Ashley Pullen of Diagonal, Ia. and friend Mike Collins; Cameo (husband Allen) Chattin of Buda, Texas, Misty (husband Scott) Cherniss Seaside, Calif., and Deric Martinez (friend Ashley Villarreal) of Houston, Texas; Kindra Booth of Lamoni, Ia. and Kasey Booth of Sharpsburg Ia.; Taylor Booth of Creston, Ia.; Shannon Larson with daughter Serenity Sanson of Corning, Bo (wife Erica) Booth of Clarinda, Ia. and Kory Booth (fiancee Shaelee Moore) with daughter Kory Christine of Breckenridge, Mo.; and Johnnie Veatch of Creston and Alex Booth of Kellerton, Ia.; a brother William Booth of Sturgeon Bay, Wis. and brother-in-law Sammie Shelton of Thorton, Texas; several nieces and nephew and many friends. Preceding Bob in death are his parents Juddie Joe Booth and Guila Carter and his sister Donita Shelton.
