Maple Saturday, March 14, 2015 NORTH KINGSVILLE — Robert Elsworth Maple, age 76, of Village Green Drive, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at UH-Conneaut Medical Center. He was born Feb. 27, 1939, in Steubenville, the son of Henry F. and Mary Olive (Dyke) Maple, and had been an Ashtabula County resident since 1964. Maple Saturday, March 14, 2015 NORTH KINGSVILLE — Robert Elsworth Maple, age 76, of Village Green Drive, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at UH-Conneaut Medical Center. He was born Feb. 27, 1939, in Steubenville, the son of Henry F. and Mary Olive (Dyke) Maple, and had been an Ashtabula County resident since 1964. A Veteran of the U.S. Army, he served for seven years just after the conclusion of the Korean War. During this time, his unit was shown in the movie "The Longest Day", something for which he was always proud. He married Lorene Mosley on Sept. 19, 1964 and together they celebrated 48 years of love and companionship. Prior to his retirement after injury, he worked as an EMTA Paramedic for Hawkins Ambulance Service. He previously was employed as a Deputy with Ashtabula County Sheriff's Department and the Geneva-on-the-Lake Police Department and had worked stocking and operating a tow motor for Frank Fortune's Warehouse. A faithful member of the Pentecostal Church of God, he enjoyed coaching little league baseball and softball when his children and grandchildren were younger, as well as midget league football. He also served as an Indian Guide with the YMCA. A talented woodworker, he made many things that he would sell at local craft shows and share with friends and family. He also enjoyed working in his garden, mostly to keep his wife happy. His survivors include two children, Robert Duane (Jackie) Maple of Ashtabula and Teresa Little (Mark) Bates of North Kingsville; son-in-law, John Frey of Ashtabula; six grandchildren, Burgundy (Anthony) LaCute, Joshua Bates, Derek (Amanda) Maple, Ashley (David) Wisniewski, Loren Frey, and Alexander Maple; four great-grandchildren, Kylie, Rylie, Weston and Lorenzo, and another on the way; two brothers, Lester Leroy Maple of Ashtabula and William George Maple of North Kingsville; one sister, Della Huffman of Sheffield Township; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene (Mosley) Maple on Dec. 24, 2012; his step-daughter, Deborah Gwynn (Little) Frey on Dec. 13, 2007; four brothers, Earl, Dale, Paul and Michael Gary Maple; and his parents. A Service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, March 16th, at Pentecostal Church of God, 2201 Cook Road, Ashtabula. The Rev. Kenneth Roberts, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Saybrook Cemetery, Ashtabula. Calling Hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, March 15th, at DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula and on Monday, from 10 a.m. until the time of Service at 11 a.m., at the Church.
