Born Nov. 15, 1929, in Ida County, Iowa, Robert Emil Boysen was the son of Gustave H. and Agnes (Schmidt) Boysen. Burial was in Ida Grove Cemetery. Services were 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove, with the Rev. Rod Dunker officiating. He grew up and attended country school in Ida County. He lived on the family farm from the age of four, except for a few years when he farmed with his brother, G.C. Boysen. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952 to 1953, during the Korean Conflict. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Ida Grove. He married Darlene Dose on July 19, 1953, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove. The couple farmed and raised their family southwest of Ida Grove. He loved life on the farm and in earlier years enjoyed raising cattle and hogs. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church Ida Grove. Survivors include his wife, Darlene; two children, Shirley (Donavon) Davenport and Mark Boysen and his special friend, Barb Weiss, all of Ida Grove; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two brothers, G.C. (Emma Jean) Boysen of Ida Grove and Vertis (Ruth) Boysen of Sioux City, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Rose-A-Rie Boysen.
