Edwards Mathews, April 2 - Funeral rites were held Sunday at Gwynn's Island Baptist Church for Robert Emmett Edwards, who died Friday at his home at Gwynn's Island. Mr. Edwards was a direct descendant of Colonel Hugh Gwynn. He had been actively engaged in pound fishing until several months ago, when he was taken ill. He was a member of the Junior Order United American Mechanics at Mathews. He resided in the same community his entire life. He was married three times, first, to the former Miss Gertrude Bensten, of Gwynn's. After her death, he married Miss Elizabeth Foster, also of Gwynn's, by whom he had two children, Robert Stewart Edwards and Mrs. Juanita Edwards Hudgins, of Motorun, both of whom survive. He is also survived by his last wife, Mrs. Addie Mae Pugh Edwards; two brothers, Thomas Eliott Edwards and Walter Gwynn Edwards, both of Gwynn's; two sisters, Mrs. W. Romie William, of Gwynn's, and Mrs. George Curtis, of Baltimore, and four grandchildren.
