He was born Oct. 28, 1924, in Ottumwa to Robert and Hildred Ballard Dusing. He married Shirley Matthews May 20, 1952. She preceded him in death Oct. 2. 1983. He was born Oct. 28, 1924, in Ottumwa to Robert and Hildred Ballard Dusing. He married Shirley Matthews May 20, 1952. She preceded him in death Oct. 2. 1983. A resident of Ottumwa most of his life, he had served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He had worked at John Deere Ottumwa Works for 30 years, retiring in 1978. He was a member of Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Surviving are two daughters, Lorie (Steve Stainer) Francis of Ottumwa and Terri (Kevin) Williams of Bloomfield: four grandchildren, Heidi Prose, Chad Francis, Brianna Williams and Devin Williams; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Amy Prose; a sister, Virginia Milburn of Seward, Alaska. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Kister officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion. Visitation will begin at 10 a m. Monday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Memorials may be made to Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Hospice of Iowa, 223 First Ave. E., Oskaloosa, Iowa 52577 or Good Samaritan Nursing and Rehab Center.
