Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, at Memorial Lutheran Church, 701 11th St., in Nevada, with Pastor Myron D. Herzberg and Pastor Kevin Leveck officiating. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On Aug. 8, 1954, he married Nancy Rae Sorensen in Nevada. He was employed by Reuben H. Donnelley Marketing for 42 years. He was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada and regularly attended the First United Methodist Church, also in Nevada. Bob was a longtime member of the Nevada Fire Department, County Fireman's Association, Story County Camping Group and Ames Moose Lodge. He was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2209, William F. Ball American Legion Post No. 48, and the Iowa Fireman's Association. He is survived by a son, Gary (Cathy) Stone, of Nevada; a daughter Lori (Rodney) Payne, of Lubbock, Texas; four grandchildren, Chris Stone, Austin Stone, Alicia Stone and Andrew Payne; two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Taylor Stone; three brothers, Jimmie M. (Thelma) Stone, Paul Stone, all of Nevada, and Bill Stone, of Marshalltown. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy, on Oct. 21, 2003; and two sisters-in-law, Midge and Fran Stone. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 14, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 Fifth St., in Nevada. A memorial fund has been established in Bob's name for the Nevada Fire Department.
