Description	:	Robert Eugene Gilkeson, the second child of Harmon D. and Lorene Sawyer Gilkeson, was born at Belleville, Kans., July 13, 1953. He passed away at Lincoln, Nebr., on September 7, 1974, as a result of an automobile accident. Bob was 21 years, 1 month and 25 days old. Read More	Robert Eugene Gilkeson, the second child of Harmon D. and Lorene Sawyer Gilkeson, was born at Belleville, Kans., July 13, 1953. He passed away at Lincoln, Nebr., on September 7, 1974, as a result of an automobile accident. Bob was 21 years, 1 month and 25 days old. Bob attended elementary and high school at Chester-Hubbell Schools, and graduated as salutatorian of the Class of 1971. He was vice president of his junior high school class, and enjoyed participating in sports, band and vocal music activities. He had attended the University of Nebraska for two years majoring in business administration. Since July 1973, he had worked as as accountant at Scott's Electronics in Lincoln, and continued his education through night classes at the University. Bob was baptized at the Chester United Methodist Church on Dec. 20, 1953, and he joined the same church on April 16, 1967. Surviving him are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harmon Gilkeson of Chester; two brothers, Ronald of the U.S. Army and David of Chester; a sister, Ann of Lincoln; and aunts, uncles and cousins. His grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Sawyer of Chester and Mr. and Mrs. Allen Gilkeson of Ashland, preceded him in death. Bob's family and friends will remember him as a quiet, sincere young man, who had an avid interest in sports, keen intellectual curiosity, and an understanding concern for those dear to him. Funeral services were held at the Chester United Methodist Church Tuesday morning, Sept. 10, at 10:30 o'clock, conducted by the Revs. Opal and Norman Crounse. Mrs. Jack Long and Mrs. Maurice Mitchell sang, with Mrs. Dolan Frye organist. The casket bearers were Jim Laverentz, Mike Tipton, Jim Carbonneau, Joe Carbonneau, Carl Stradley and Wayne Dake. Burial was in the Chester Cemetery, Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
