Hisel, son of William and Mary "Lottie" (Burnett) Hisel, was born on November 3, 1925, in Sioux Falls, SD. He attended at Cathedral High School until enlisting with the Merchant Marines during WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1946, and enlisted with the United States Army, serving in the Korean Conflict until being honorably discharged in 1952. Hisel, 89 of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2014, at the Sioux Falls VA Hospital. Robert F. Hisel, son of William and Mary "Lottie" (Burnett) Hisel, was born on November 3, 1925, in Sioux Falls, SD. He attended at Cathedral High School until enlisting with the Merchant Marines during WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1946, and enlisted with the United States Army, serving in the Korean Conflict until being honorably discharged in 1952. Robert returned to Sioux Falls and began working with Dow Chemical until they closed the plant. Robert was united in marriage with Mary Ann Kuemper on October 26, 1962, in Minnesota. Robert worked with SoDak Distributing driving truck until retiring in 1987. Robert loved the outdoors and spent countless hours hunting and fishing. He would often take his family camping and was known to bring along neighborhood kids for company. Robert was very giving of himself to others and was a member of the VFW Post 628. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Mary Ann, Sioux Falls, SD; son Kurt (Peggy) Hisel, Sioux Falls, SD; daughter Kim Hovland (Gene), Sioux Falls, SD; Step-children Jeffery Person, Sioux Falls, SD, Laurie (Corky) Gill, Fountain Inn, SC, Larry (Mary) Person, Sioux Falls, SD; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; sister Margaret "Mic" Entringer; and brothers Gerald, John, Ted, Donald, Larry, Wendall, and William (Harold). Visitation will begin at 12 pm with a prayer service beginning at 5 pm and the family continuing to greet friends until 7 pm on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at Miller Funeral Home, 13th & Main. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, December 10, 2014, at the Miller Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Hills of Rest Memorial Park.
