Funeral services were conducted at the M. E. church Monday by Rev. Angle and interment was made at Union cemetery. Robert Franklin TAYLOR was born in North Carolina May 4, 1828, and at the time of his death was 83 years, 4 months and 13 days old. When a young man he moved to Grayson county, Virginia, with his parents and was married to Matilda Jane Carrico on June 1, 1860. To this union were born ten children, four sons and six daughters, seven of whom are still living. In the year 1863 Mr. Taylor enlisted in the Southern army and served until the close of the Civil war. He moved to Battle Creek, Nebraska, in March, 1884, where he lived one year. For several years he lived at Meadow Grove and then returned to Battle Creek, where he resided until his death. He affiliated with the Methodist church during the greater part of his life. In his quiet way "Uncle Robert" made friends of every acquaintance and these friends regret his departure and share the sorrow of a family now bereft of a loving father whose greatest delight in life was in the happiness of those around him. The surviving children are Thos. J., Lee and Miss Mollie TAYLOR and Mrs. Emma Mitchell of Battle Creek, Mrs. Nannie Dogan of Meadow Grove, and W. R. and James TAYLOR of Hot Springs, S. D. With exception of the latter, whose health would not permit the trip, all were present at the funeral.
