Honorary pallbearers are Don and Judy Benz, Scott and Doris Anderson, Jay and Margaret Uhlenhake, Ken and Linda Schaufenbuel, Don and Sharl Kurtenbach, and Kent and Linda Cuvelier. Friends may greet the family 3:30 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2015, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Lawler where there will be a 3:30 p.m. parish scripture service. Visitation continues an hour prior to the Mass at the church on Friday. Hugeback – Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Bob Gene Cuvelier was born July 28, 1930, in Nowata, OK, the son of Elmore and Iva (Vincent) Cuvelier. He attended country schools in Butler County and was a graduate of Dumont High School in 1949. After graduation, Bob worked on the family farm with his parents. The family moved to the Lawler area in 1950 where Bob continued to farm. Bob was introduced to Dolores Bodensteiner and the couple was married January 19, 1955 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas. To this union six sons were born. Bob farmed near Lawler until the early 1960’s. He continued to work in the Agriculture Field working for various Co-ops and Feed companies. Bob worked for the Iowa Department of Agriculture as an Ag Product Inspector until his retirement in 2000. Following retirement, he worked at CASH Lumber and volunteered to mow the parks for the city of Lawler. Bob enjoyed trips to Minnesota fishing, vacations to Branson, Missouri, and several trips to Alaska. Bob and Dolores enjoyed five winters together in Arizona. His hobbies included gardening, fishing, hunting, playing cards, and woodworking. Bob served on several boards and committees in the community. He was an active member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Bob cherished time spent with his family and friends. Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dolores; six sons, John (Leslie) Cuvelier of Lawler, Gary (Nancy) Cuvelier of Lawler, Richard (Lindsay) Cuvelier of Decorah, Tom (Sue) Cuvelier of Dubuque, Paul (Susan) Cuvelier of Wytheville, Virginia, and Mark (Renee) Cuvelier of Cresco; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Craig (Jeannie) Cuvelier of Sierra Visa, AZ; three sisters: Donna Sokolik of Hampton, Dorothy (Don) Harmon of Anamosa, and Carol Koenen of Hampton; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Cuvelier of Dumont, and LaVera Cuvelier of Aplington. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Albert (Billie) Cuvelier, Orlo (Pat) Cuvelier, Iven (Jean) Cuvelier, Harley Cuvelier, and Leland Cuvelier; two sisters, Maxine (Burdine) Hahn, Eva in infancy; great-grandchild, Natalie Rose Kuhn in infancy; two brothers-in-law, Sheryl Sokolik, and Bill Koenen.
