He grew up on the family farm north of Mansfield and graduated from Mansfield High School in 1956. He was born April 29, 1938, in Wenatchee. He grew up on the family farm north of Mansfield and graduated from Mansfield High School in 1956. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Washington State University in 1962. Following college graduation, he worked as a flight test instrumentation engineer for Lockheed, performing data acquisition, data processing, instrumentation development and dynamic and vibration analyses for research and development of advanced rotary wing aircraft. In 1973, Bob moved to Hughes Helicopters, where he was Chief Engineer in charge of flight test instrumentation organization, defining flight test measurement techniques, design of telemetry systems, recording media and integration, installation and operation of flight test systems. From 1981, until his retirement in 1997, Bob worked for Sundstrand Power Systems, a Division of Sundstrand Aerospace, in San Diego. At Sundstrand, he was responsible for analyses and implementation of instrumentation and data acquisition for high performance turbine engines and systems. Bob, a private pilot in the 60s and 70s, had a lifelong love of flying. He had an easy-going style, often striking up conversations with complete strangers and he loved a good story. He thoroughly enjoyed singing in a choir and a barbershop quartet. Bob is greatly missed by his family and his many friends and colleagues. Survivors include sons, Marc and Brian; a daughter, Lynn; five granddaughters, Alicia, Jessica, Jennifer, Hope and Natasha; a great-granddaughter, Alize; mother, Dorothy Murison of Mansfield; brothers, Donald of Mansfield, Arthur of East Wenatchee and Rick of Waverly; four nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. Memorial Services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday morning, April 21, 2001, in the Mansfield United Protestant Church. Pastor Sam Buckingham will officiate. If desired, memorials may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Escondido, 115 West Woodward Avenue, Escondido, CA, 92025, Attn: Sally Sargent, in Bob's name. Arrangements are by the Waterville Funeral Home.
