Description	:	Dr. R. G. Moore, a native of Kossuth County, Iowa, was graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State College in 1913. The spring of that year he moved to Dunlap and established a veterinary practice. In 1915 he married Gladys Acton, the daughter of Edward B. and Harriet Actor, who were pioneer clothing merchants in Dunlap.... Moore, a native of Kossuth County, Iowa, was graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State College in 1913. In 1915 he married Gladys Acton, the daughter of Edward B. and Harriet Actor, who were pioneer clothing merchants in Dunlap.... Dr. Moore left his practice in 1917 to serve in the Veterinary Corps in World War I, anda s a Captain spent a year in France in the AEF. On his return from the Army Service he re-established his Veterinary Practice and was active in that capacity until his death in 1969. He was a charter member of the Dunlap American Legion Post and served as the organizations first commander. During the period from 1918 until his death, Dr. Moore was active in community affairs. He served as Mayor of Dunlap, School Board President, State House of Representatives, State Senate, and later as Secretary of State. He was also active in Porfessional activities, and servied as President of the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. and Mrs. Moore were the parents of three children: Nona Jane (1918) who married Dr. C. W. Byrnes, a Dunlap physician. They had six children, Ann, Jane, Bill, Sara, Mary and Robert.....Robert Acton (1921) married Vivian Becker and they had three children, Robert G.II, Teri and Marc....Ruth Ann (1924) lives in Califormia and married Dr. Walter Johnson. They have five children, Larry, Lynn, Sandra, Steven and Kathy. In 1950 Robert joined his father in the practive of Veterinary Medicine at Dunlap ..... He is a parter in Twin Valley Vererinary Clinic, which he established in 1971. This clinic has grown to be one of the largest in the State and is operated by six beterinarians. Robert and his wife Genevieve (married 1972) live on their farm, which borders the east edge of Dunlap. Genevieve is the daughter of Barbara (Wettengel) and Phillip Shields, both lifetime residents of Dunlap.
