Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, at the Congregational Christian Church of Columbia with Rev. Clarence Cope and Rev. Sheila Apland-Ottenbacher officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen. Robert H. Dennert was born May 21, 1909, on the family farm near Columbia, S.D. to George and Augusta (Weismantel) Dennert. He attended and graduated from Columbia High School. Robert married Lucille E. Wenner on June 28, 1930, at Hecla, S.D. They made their home in Columbia, where he managed and owned the Columbia State Bank. The family moved to Aberdeen in 1977. Lucille passed away on Oct. 29, 1991. Robert became a resident of Bethesda Home of Aberdeen in January of 2000, where he continued to reside until the time of his death. He was a member of the Congregational Christian Church of Columbia and was an active church leader. He was also a longtime Chairman of the Columbia School Board. Survivors include two sons, Allan (Connie) Dennert of Columbia, S.D. and Dennis (Carmen) Dennert of Spirit Lake, Iowa; one daughter, Deanna (Ted) Hanson of Fargo, N.D.; one sister, Irene (Rev. Clarence) Cope of Columbus, Ga.; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one daughter, Kay, one brother, Harold and one sister, Myrtle. Casketbearers will be Greg Dennert, Brian Dennert, Scott Dennert, Bill Maddocks, Brad Maddocks and Marshall Dennert. Dennert Published in the Aberdeen News on 12/10/2004.
