Robert Hamilton, employed for nearly a score of years as a carpenter on the Bidwell ranch, passed away shortly after midnight this morning, the cause of death being asthma of the heart, and dropsy, from which he had been a sufferer for about two months. Deceased was a native of New York, aged 69 years. He came to California in 1853, first locating in Lassen county, and in 1860 came to Butte county. He was twice married, and was parent to four children by his first wife and four by his second, whose maiden name was Euphelia McCargar. Deceased had long been a most faithful member of the Methodist Church, and was known as a man whose religion was not a pretense. The funeral of Robert Hamilton will take place Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the First Methodist Church in Chico.
