Burial in Woodward Cemetery , Woodward, IA. Robert Lee Hass was born January 13, 1937 at Woodward, IA, son of Harry Harold and Hildagard Catherine Olderding Hass. He received his education at Woodward where he graduated in 1955. He entered the United States Marines and served his country from 1955-1958. In 1957 he married Trudy Morse and to this union two children were born Robert G. and Rhonda. They later divorced. After his military duty he worked for Ford Motor Company until February 1959 when he received spinal cord injuries in an automobile accident that claimed the lives of two good friends Max and Allie Hitsman. He made his home in Woodward and Des Moines before moving to the VA Spinal Cord injury hospital in Milwaukee, WI. In 1971 while in the VA hospital he attended school in Chicago and Washington DC and became National Service Officer for Paralyzed Vets of America. Robert's death came on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at the Mayville Rehab Center in Mayville, WI at the age of 76 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Ronald and a brother-in-law Gordon C. Nass. He is survived by his children Rhonda (Tim) Murphy of San Clemente, CA and Robert G. Hass of Rockport, TX, one brother George (Linda) Hass of Woodward, two sisters; LaVonne Nass of Dysart, IA and Joan (Earl) Gray of Zearing, IA, a sister-in-law Shirley Hass of Woodward, 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
