Description	:	Robert Henry "Bob" Neal, 79, of Oroville, WA passed away Thursday, October 12, 2006, at his home in Oroville. Bob was born November 27, 1926, in Govan, WA to Terrell Howard Neal and Ida Maybelle (Menke) Neal. After living a short time in Sandpoint, ID the family moved to Oroville and purchased the family farm for $100.00. Read More	Robert Henry "Bob" Neal, 79, of Oroville, WA passed away Thursday, October 12, 2006, at his home in Oroville. Bob was born November 27, 1926, in Govan, WA to Terrell Howard Neal and Ida Maybelle (Menke) Neal. After living a short time in Sandpoint, ID the family moved to Oroville and purchased the family farm for $100.00. Bob was raised with his two siblings, brother, Terry and sister, Joyce and attended schools in Oroville, graduating from Oroville High School in 1945. After high school, together with his brother, Terry attended Adcox Auto Body School in Portland, OR. He later enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1951, and after completing basic and advanced training, Bob was stationed in Essenglir, Germany and worked as a welding inspector. In 1953, Bob returned home to Oroville and entered the Army Reserves. It was at this time that Bob, along with his brother Terry, opened Neal & Neal Auto Body in Wilbur, WA. During this time, they also enjoyed being involved in the local stock car racing circuit. Bob later moved back to Oroville and worked a short time at Simons Ford Dealership in Tonasket and Bill George Chevrolet Dealership in Oroville. In 1956, after six combined years in the Army (active duty) and Reserves and receiving several awards and commendations, Bob was honorably discharged from the service. On September 14, 1956, Bob married Betti Jo Neece in Tonasket. They moved to Oroville, making their home and raising their three children, Jay, Toni, and Jon. It was at this time they opened "Bob's Wrecker Service", later becoming Neal's Auto Service. When not running and operating the auto business, Bob enjoyed camping, trail riding, and his trips into the Pasayten Wilderness. He also enjoyed flying around to various areas in his friend George Ehler's home built airplane. After retiring in 1991, Bob continued to enjoy his time with his horses, family, grandkids, and his many friends. Bob was a hard worker and a faithful community supporter. He was a member of the Oroville School Board for 10 years serving as Chairman of the Board for several of those years, founding member of the Oroville Trail Riders Association from 1983 until 2006, where he served as President for many years. Bob was also an American Legion member and an Eagles member. Bob's bright smile and friendship will truly be missed by all. Bob is survived by his three children, Jay (Patricia) of Arlington, WA, Toni Hogberg (Steve) of Milton, WA and Jon (Traci) of Oroville, WA; sister, Joyce Keil (Calvin) of Denver, CO; five grandchildren, Kathrine, Elizabeth, Chelsea, Zachary, Tiffany; and two great-grandchildren; Devon and Gavin. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Terry Neal. Services will be held Friday, October 20, 2006, at 12:00 Noon at the Oroville United Methodist Church. Graveside Services to follow at the Oroville Riverview Cemetery and potluck luncheon continuing back at the United Methodist Church. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Bergh Funeral Service of Oroville in care of arrangements.
