Liggitt and Estella M (Twyford) Liggitt was born October 16, 1916 near Liberty in rural Clarke County, Iowa and passed from this life Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Circle of Life Hospice in Chariton, Iowa at 100 years of age. Robert married Lois Ruth Ewoldsen on April 23, 1938 in Osceola, Iowa and this union was blessed with three children, Lonnie, Ruth and Mary Lou. As a young man, Robert enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping with his brother Edwin. They even built a log cabin in the timber. He enjoyed traveling with Lois to their winter home in Arizona. Family was very important to Robert. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren and always enjoyed when family was around and being able to attend and share in the many activities of his loving family. Robert was a proud and hardworking farmer. He received the Iowa Master Corn Grower Achievement Award. He was a loyal and valued dealer for Hoegemeyer Hybrid Seed Corn for 40 years. He was known for the top-grade Hereford Cattle he raised for many years. Those relatives who preceded Robert in death were his wife Lois; his parents, Clarence and Estella Liggitt; and infant brother and his brother, Edwin Liggitt. Robert leaves to cherish his memory; son, Lonnie (Jean) Liggitt of Anchorage, AK, daughter, Julie (Ronald) Burgus of Mesa, AZ, daughter, Mary Lou Davenport of Indianola, IA, grandchildren, Scott, Brent, Melissa, Angela, Jack, Eric, Todd, and Suzanne, great grandchildren, Eva Marie, Ingrid, Peyton, Estella, Jessica, Santiago, Antonio, Samuel, Monty, Merit, Morgan, Cameron, and Wyatt as well as other relatives and many friends.
