Mercier, 80, of South Avenue, Attleboro died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008 in Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the devoted husband of 38 years of Priscilla J. (Davis) Mercier. He was born in Attleboro, a son of the late Donat and Dianna (St. Pierre) Mercier. He was a lifelong resident of Attleboro, and a communicant of Holy Ghost Church. Bob had proudly served with the U.S. Army during World War II in Germany. He had been employed in the maintenance department of Vista Wall Architectural Products of Lincoln, R.I., and Pawtucket for 48 years before retiring in 1992. He was an avid Patriots fan, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing dominoes, camping, traveling and taking cruises. Besides his wife, he leaves five sons: Robert W. and Dana F. Mercier of Huntsville, Ala., James L. Mercier of Boston, Peter W. and his wife Michelle L. Mercier of Attleboro, and Joseph R. and his wife Gayle M. Mercier of Attleboro; two daughters, Sandra R. Mercier of Attleboro and Kim-Ann S. and her husband Todd Nunn of Gurley, Ala.; one brother, Leon Mercier of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Rita Boutin of North Attleboro and Lorraine Lyman of South Attleboro; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Kerri M. Mercier, and the brother of the late Armand D. Mercier. His funeral will be held on Friday, Feb. 29 at 9 a.m. from the Foley-Hathaway Funeral Home, 126 South Main St. (Route 152), Attleboro followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Ghost Church, 71 Linden St., Attleboro. Burial will follow in the family lot in St. John Cemetery, West Street, Attleboro. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours will be in the Foley Chapel on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 222 Richmond St., Providence, RI 02903 would be appreciated.
