For more than fifty-seven years he had lived in the Uniontown community and he had witnessed the transformation of the unbroken prairie into a rich agricultural section. He was born in Indiana in 1836. He spent his early life there but as a young man he came west to the Kansas territory where the battle of freedom was soon to be fought. He settled on a farm and his efforts were highly successful as he was one of the leading farmers of the county. Mr. Ramsey is survived by his widow, seven sons and one daughter. The sons are Sherman, Lute, Isom, George, Claude, Clarence and Robert, all of whom live in the Uniontown vicinity. The daughter, Miss Mildred, lived at home. Besides the immediate family, Mr. Ramsey had a large number of other relatives in the county, who with his many friends will deeply mourn his loss.
