"Bob" Sieverding, 83, of La Motte, passed away at 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, at St. Joseph's Church, Key West, Iowa, with the Rev. Donald Bakewell officiating. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, La Motte, where military rites will be accorded by the Bellevue American Legion Post 273. Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. today at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, where there will be a wake service at 1 p.m. He was born on June 25, 1928, in Bellevue, son of Tony A. and Josephine (Roling) Sieverding. He married Alice Trumm on Oct. 9, 1982, at Holy Ghost Church in Dubuque. He graduated from St. Joseph's High School, Bellevue, in 1947, and served in the Army from 1951 to 1953, during the Korean War. He farmed in the La Motte area most of his life. He was especially interested in organic farming. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, La Motte-Key West Council and was an active member of Holy Rosary Church, teaching CCD group, and a member of the Parish Council. He also served as the trustee for Richland Township. Surviving are his wife, Alice, of La Motte; a brother, Tony (Gertrude) Sieverding, of Cascade; sister-in-law, Edith Ball, of Dubuque; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Edward; a sister, Leona; and a sister-in-law, Betty Sieverding.
