Description	:	Robert Hislop, a miner and resident of this city for the past 14 years, met his death Tuesday evening, Sept. 25, 1900 at about 6:45 p.m. being run over by an engine and five cars on the Burlingame and Alma branch. The accident occurred near the home of James Washington, south of town. Read More	Robert Hislop, a miner and resident of this city for the past 14 years, met his death Tuesday evening, Sept. 25, 1900 at about 6:45 p.m. being run over by an engine and five cars on the Burlingame and Alma branch. The accident occurred near the home of James Washington, south of town. The coroner staged an inquest Wednesday morning and jury members ruled Hislop came to his death by reason of his having been run over by the railway train on the Burlingame and Alma railroad, a branch of the Sante Fe, and that his death was accidental, accidental, and the jury find there was no blame attached to the railway company. Hislop was born in Sterlingshire, Scotland, and was 42 years of age. About four years ago his wife died leaving him the care of a family of six children. He was a kind father, a good neighbor and citizen, and when sober a perfect gentleman in every respect. To those who are left to mourn his terrible death is extended the tender tender sympathy of. the entire community. community. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Alex. Hotchkiss, after which interment was made in the Burlingame cemetery.
