Description	:	Robert Keller Robert J. Keller, 78, of Defiance, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2009, at CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center after a heroic battle against esophageal cancer. He was born April 24, 1930, the son of the late Joseph and Ethel (Newton) Keller. In 1952, he married Betty Jewett, who preceded him in death in 1991. In 1993, he married Shirley Lamb, who survives. Robert was a Defiance High School class of 1948 graduate, served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954, and had been a classified advertising manager for The Crescent-News of Defiance for 39 years, retiring in 1993.... He was born April 24, 1930, the son of the late Joseph and Ethel (Newton) Keller. In 1952, he married Betty Jewett, who preceded him in death in 1991. In 1993, he married Shirley Lamb, who survives. Robert was a Defiance High School class of 1948 graduate, served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954, and had been a classified advertising manager for The Crescent-News of Defiance for 39 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Defiance, VFW, Elks and AMVETS and enjoyed playing euchre. Surviving are a son, three daughters, three stepsons, one brother, seven grandchildren and six stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary Keller and Richard Keller. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at Mast-Mock-Hoffman-Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, officiated by Father Todd Dominique. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to services on Wednesday. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Prabir Chaudhuri and Dr. Yavan Duwayri along with the entire University of Toledo Medical College SICU staff for their compassion and exceptional care. Special thanks to the entire staff of CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center for helping us find peace. You are truly God's Angels on Earth. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Defiance County.
