Robert has nine sisters and three brothers. He graduated from St. Paul's High School, Defiance. His wife, Karen Gallagher, was born August 17 , 1940 at Manilla. Her father, Arnold W. Read More	1882~1982 Defiance (Iowa) Century Review: ROBERT KLOEWER FAMILY Robert Kloewer was born March 5, 1940 at Defiance, son of Aloysius and Eva Peerman Kloewer. Robert has nine sisters and three brothers. He graduated from St. Paul's High School, Defiance. His wife, Karen Gallagher, was born August 17 , 1940 at Manilla. Her father, Arnold W. Gallagher , was born in Vail and her mother, Lucille E. Gallagher, was born in Denison. Karen has three brothers. Karen and Bob were married at Sacred Heart Church in Manilla August 12, 1961. Manilla was home for Karen and Bob until December of 1965. Bob bought interest in the plumbing and heating business at Defiance in August of 1965. Moving to Defiance, the Kloewers lived in the Louie Sternberg house, then owned by Fred Backhaus, and now occupied by the Rick Schmitz family, until October of 1966 when they moved to their new home in the north part of Defiance. Karen graduated from Manilla High School in 1958 and attended beauty school in Des Moines. Upon her graduation from there in 1960, she worked in Des Moines until she and Bob were married. Karen was a beautician in Manilla until they moved to Defiance in 1965. In 1967 Karen opened her own beauty shop in her home, where she still operates today. Bob is in the plumbing and heating business. Karen has been active ;n Parish Council, Women's Council and School Board. Bob is active in Steering Committee, Hall Commission, and was Fire Dept. chief four years. They celebrated at Lake of the Ozarks in July with their family. The couple has five children: Pat and Brenda Kloewer, Defiance; Mark and Susie Kloewer, Defiance; Scott and Felecia Kloewer, Spencer; Tim and Brandi Kloewer, San Antonio, Texas; and Theresa Kloewer and Nancy Perry also of San Antonio. The Kloewers have 15 grandchildren. Bob is semi~retired having owned and operated Kloewer Plumbing and Heating for 50 years. Karen is a retired beautician.
