Description	:	Robert James "Bob" Bahr died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, in Denver from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. After a memorial service in Denver, Bob’s ashes will be sent to the U.S. Navy for burial at sea. His passing will be commemorated on his marker located in the Cedar Grove cemetery in Mancos. Bob was born Nov. 5, 1921, in Shelly, Idaho, to Otto and Cecelia Bahr. He was the last survivor of their 11 children. Bob served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean conflict. Bob was born Nov. 5, 1921, in Shelly, Idaho, to Otto and Cecelia Bahr. He was the last survivor of their 11 children. Bob served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean conflict. His peace-time service was spent at Oak Knoll Naval Hospital where he specialized in orthotics and prosthetics. He retired from the Navy after 23 years of service. He continued to work in this field first in civil service at Wadsworth Veteran’s Hospital in Los Angeles, and later in private practice in Gallup, N.M., and Durango for Scott Orthopedics of Denver. Upon final retirement, Bob became active in community and senior citizen affairs in Mancos and Cortez. He loved woodworking in his shop and fishing. He and his wife resided in Mancos for 16 years prior to moving to the Denver area in 1999. Bob is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marjorie; his daughters: Dixie Bahr of Ventura, Calif., and Robin Platt of Golden, Colo.; grandchildren: Michelle Matney of Lancaster, Calif., Melissa Laser of Palmdale, Calif., Jessica and Jacob Platt of Golden.
