Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens at Aberdeen with military rites by the Groton American Legion Post No. 39. Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel in Groton is in charge of arrangements. He died Wednesday, May 27, 1992, at St. Luke's Midland Regional Medical Center of cancer. Robert James Hoops was born Sept. 18, 1947, to James and Ruth (Bell) Hoops at Conde. He grew up in the Ferney area where he attended grade school. He attended high school at Groton. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on March 17, 1966. He married Peggy LeMunyon on Sept 21, 1968, at Albany, Ga. He was discharged on Nov. 28, 1969. They returned to Ferney and he worked as assistant parts man for Midland Motors in Aberdeen until 1972. They moved to Groton and he became parts manager for Trail Chevrolet and Olds in Groton. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ferney, Groton American Legion Post No. 39 and Alcoholics Anonymous. Survivors include his wife of Groton; two sons, Richard Hoops of Groton and Patrick Hoos at home; one daughter, Crystal Hoops at home; his prents of Groton; three brother, Charles Hoops of Arkansas City, Kan., David Hoops and James Hoops, both of Ferney; four sister, Mrs. Alan (Karen) Kroll of Andover, Mrs. Kenneth (Bonnie) Pigors and Vicki Hoops both of Ferney, and Mrs. Randy (Sandy) Hjermstad of Groton and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Casketbearers will be Tom Belden, Ron Falk, Merle Hanson, Howard Pigors, Ray Richardson, Kirk Rocheford and Orville Schaller. Organist will be Mrs. Paul Keup. Soloist will be Linda Ann Price.
