Mulhair, Sr. Sioux Falls, SD - 04/15/05 Sioux Falls - Robert James "Bob" Mulhair, 90, died Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls. Bob was born July 11, 1914 to Charles and Mae (Sweeney) Mulhair in Parker, SD. After he graduated from Parker High School in 1932, Bob joined the Civilian Conservation Corps, working in the Custer, SD area for two years. He returned to Parker and helped his father do painting and wallpapering while working at the Horner Lumber Company. On June 4, 1936, Bob married Maxine Drew in Parker. In 1942, they moved to Sioux Falls to manage a wallpaper and paint store, which later he and his brother, Chuck, purchased. Bob was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral. He served the Jaycees as state President and national Vice President, and was the first South Dakota Jaycee to achieve a national office. He was a lifetime member of the Elks and the Sioux Falls noon Sertoma Club, serving as its President in 1960. He was also a member of the Chamber of Commerce and an active 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, having been chosen King of the Mardi Gras in 1947. Bob served on the Sioux Falls Planning Commission. He was also Director of the Office of Price Stabilization. Grateful for having shared his life are his loving wife, Maxine of Sioux Falls; 2 sons, Bob (Delna) of Sioux Falls and Dick (Judy) of Brookings; 3 grandsons, Brian (Sara) of West Hartland, CT, Chris (Alicia) of Brookings and Todd (Alisa) of Minneapolis, MN; 2 granddaughters, Lynn (Richard) Jarman of Tea and Allison (fiancé, Kip Roberts) Mulhair of Highmore, SD; 5 great-grandchildren; an 2 sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Bob) Reed Puyallup, WA and Mary Ann Mulhair of Sioux Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and a brother. Visitation will be Sunday, the 17th, at 4:00 p.m. at Barnett-Lewis Funeral Home, with the family present from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a Scripture Vigil at 7:00 p.m., followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, the 18th, 10:30 a.m., at St. Joseph Cathedral.
