Read More	Robert James Groene, 88, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 10 PM. He was born on February 10, 1926 in Wever to Bernard and Irene Palin Groene. On February 5, 1951 he married Marilyn Pollpeter in Ft. Madison and she passed away on March 4, 1963. He then married Rita Brandt on April 25, 1964 in Ft. Madison. Bob was a mail carrier for the US Postal Service, retiring in 1989 with thirty two years of service, prior to that he was a fireman for the ATSF for ten years. Bob was a member Holy Family Parish and the Knights of Columbus. He served in the US Navy from 1944-1947. He was also a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers and the Passport Club. Bob also enjoyed gardening and big band jazz music. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Marilyn; a son, Jim and a granddaughter, Cara.
