Description	:	Robert John “Bob” Wiebe, 81 years of age, of Loomis, died on Thursday, November 12, 2020, at the CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. Bob was born on April 19, 1939, at Beatrice, Nebraska, the eldest of two sons born to John J. and Helen (Thimm) Wiebe. Bob received his primary education from a country school near Beatrice and later attended and graduated from Beatrice High School with the class of 1957. Bob was born on April 19, 1939, at Beatrice, Nebraska, the eldest of two sons born to John J. and Helen (Thimm) Wiebe. Bob received his primary education from a country school near Beatrice and later attended and graduated from Beatrice High School with the class of 1957. Bob pursued higher education from Bethel College in Newton, Kansas, and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Arts in 1961. On July 10, 1960, Bob was united in marriage to Helen Redekop at the Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church in Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, Mexico. The couple made their home in N. Newton, Kansas. God blessed his union with three children: John, Lynette, and Tim. Following the completion of his education, Bob taught Industrial Arts classes at Henderson High School in Henderson, Nebraska, for seven years. The couple then moved to a farm in Phelps County, where Bob and Helen raised their children and farmed until their retirement, when they moved into Loomis. Bob enjoyed woodworking, volunteering at Rocky Mountain National Park, and hiking in the Rocky Mountains near Estes Park, Colorado. He was a member of the Westmark Evangelical Free Church, where he served on the church board; the Phelps County Community Foundation; and Farm Bureau. Bob’s favorite hymn was, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”; his favorite songs, sung with gusto during many family suppers, were: “Beans, Beans…”, and “Bill Grogan’s Goat”. His family will fondly recall these songs when they gather together and remember this wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Bob was preceded in death by; his parents, John and Helen Wiebe; parents-in-law: Aron and Katherine Redekop. Bob is survived by: his wife, of 60 years, Helen Wiebe of Loomis; son, John (Karen) Wiebe of Wichita, Kansas; grandson, T.J. (Emily) Wiebe; two step-grandsons: Zach Jones; and Cody (Lisa) Jones, and their children: Greyson & Benjamin; daughter, Lynette (Shawn) Penner of Wichita; grandsons: Colten Penner; and Chase Penner; son, Tim (Gretchen) Wiebe of McCook, Nebraska; and brother, James (Karen) Wiebe of DeWitt, Nebraska.
