BIRD succumbs to Neutritus at Soldier's home. Neutritus caused the death of Robert L Bird, age 70, a veteran of the civil war at the soldiers' home, at 1:30 this afternoon. Bird had been a member of the home since Feb 27, 1906, when he entered from this city. He was a native of Holmes county, Illinois, where he was born Aug 22, 1844. He enlisted in Company E Twelfth Iowa infantry, Oct 1, 1861, at Butler Center and was discharged Jan 20, 1866, at Memphis Tennessee. His wife Mrs. Lucy A Bird, is a member of the home. Two Daughters and one son survived him. They are Mesdames Maud Kline and Grace Hamilton, and David Bird, all of Hampton.
