He was born September 3, 1932, in Newark, to the late Robert A. and Juanita (Baker) Barrett. He passed away January 15, 2012, at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was a 31-year member of the Newark Elks, former president of the Newark Lions Club, very active in the Newark Alumni Association, Newark High School Hall of Fame Committee, and Old Timers Association. He donated 18 gallons of blood to Red Cross, and his 1950 class donated money to A Call to College. He was a tax preparer for over 40 years, an avid OSU fan, and enjoyed trips to Myrtle Beach. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marlene (Ditter) Barrett, whom he married on December 18, 1949; daughters, Debra (Richard) Winegardner of Thornville, Susan (Thomas) Lehmkuhle; of Newark and Bobbi (Dale Conner) Pappas of Plano, Texas; sons, Robert (Marsha) Barrett, Douglas Barrett and Bryan (Christine) Barrett all of Newark; sister, Josephine Baran of Heath; grandchildren, Amy, Lindsay (Brian), Jeff, Marlena, Christopher, Stuart, Bradley, and Casey; great-grandchildren, Jack and Megan, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Barrett, and sister, Mary Alice Litts-Russell. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St. Newark. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, P.O.
