Read More	Robert "Bob" L. Hilgenkamp, 80 December 24, 1938 ~ December 7, 2019 Robert was born December 24, 1938 in Washington County, Nebraska, to Evi and Agnes (Hartung) Hilgenkamp. He was raised in Fremont, NE and graduated from Fremont High School in 1957. After high school he attended Midland College in Fremont, and played football for one year. He then enlisted in the United States Navy. He returned to Fremont and worked several jobs before beginning a 38 year long career with the City of Fremont, Department of Utilities. Bob was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont and served at various times on most of its boards and committees. During his younger years he played on and coached the church softball team. He was a member of the Fremont High School Booster Club, an avid Husker and Cubs fan, and traveler. Bob married Charlotte Harmeyer on December 26, 1965 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Sadly, she preceded him in death on April 14, 1997. Bob then married Judith Smith on May 9, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. Robert 'Bob' L. Hilgenkamp, age 80, of Fremont, Nebraska, died Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Nye Legacy in Fremont. Left to honor his memory are his wife – Judith Smith of Hooper, NE; children – Heather Ramig of Fremont, NE (fiancé Randy Garver); Grant Hilgenkamp of Omaha, NE (wife Alex Hilgenkamp); Amber Porter of Chicago, IL (husband Andrew Porter); Gonzalo Lacayo of Tilarán, Costa Rica (wife Gaby Lacayo); Step-daughter – Amber Smith of Hooper, NE; Step-children – Todd Smith (wife Shari Smith), Brent Smith (wife Becky Smith), Megan Smith and their families; Grandchildren – Claire Ramig, Katie Ramig, Ethan Hilgenkamp, and Daisy Porter; Sister – Jeanette Phillippe of Casper, WY; Brother – Arnold Hilgenkamp (wife Jan Hilgenkamp) of Minneapolis, MN; Mother-in-law – Margaret Harmeyer of Ft. Wayne, IN; Sister-in-law – Dorothy Gilmore of Ft. Wayne, IN; Nieces and nephews Bob was preceded in death by his first wife Charlotte, two sisters, brother, and parents. The funeral will be at 10:30am on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont, NE. The Rev. Dan Heuer will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Endowment Fund. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 3pm to 8pm with the family present from 5pm to 7pm at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at church.
