It was Christmas morning 1936, always a day for children to look forward to Santa, presents, food, and every kind of pastry imaginable. Picture this, waking, getting up, and looked out the window to find three feet of snow on the ground & roof left by Santa to greet us through the Christmas Eve night and into Christmas morning. The temperature was a moderate three degrees below zero, and windy enough outside to leave your body stinging from the frigid temperatures exposed to your face, hands, and feet. Just like any other day on any ranch, there were still chores to be done and their mother had to come back from where ever her husband took her before our family Christmas Eve dinner celebration which didn't quite happen. After dressing for the daily chores, I went downstairs to find Mrs Keeting preparing breakfast in the "chuck house". Throughout breakfast she did her best to keep quiet about the folks but there was also some other anticipation and excitement on the ranch, at first I just couldn't quite put my finger on it, everyone was walking around smiling and spending more time than usual with us kids. Alas, Robert L "Bobby" Bryan was born on Friday, the 25th of December 1936. The family spent the first eight years of "Bobbies" life growing up together on the Henry Keeting Ranch, where his father worked leaving the children a wonderland found in exploring, working, the daily pranks, playing when time allowed. This would last until the summer of 1944 when the family relocated to rural areas surrounding Billings and his father "Frank" began working a regular city job. He attended & graduated from Stillwater County grade school in May of 1940, Laurel High School in late May of 1954. He then went on continuing his education completing two years of college at Eastern Montana College of Education at the time of his death in 1957. Surviving, besides his parents are one brother, Arthur Zahn Bryan of 516 Nelson Drive; two sisters, Mrs James J "Hazel" Walker of 1014 6th street West and Mrs Lonney H. "Marjorie" White of 1732 Clark Ave., and two half brothers, William S. Bryan of Seattle and Archie Don Bryan of Twodot, Montana. Services; 2 PM, Thursday, February 7th. The Rev. R. H. Moorman, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens following the service, Funeral Services for Robert L. Bryan, 20, of 545 Ave. E, were held Thursday, the second of February at 2 PM in the Billings Funeral Chapel. The Rev. R. H.
