He passed peacefully with his children by his side at Virginia Mason Hospital.A resident of Seattle Bob was born to Allison and Georgie Knapp, a Sequim pioneer family on October 18, 1947. He graduated from Sequim High School in 1965 and from Peninsula College in 1972. Bob was a member of the US Army and served in California, Turkey and Germany from 1967-1970. He married Ruth A. Judd on August 2, 1969 and they divorced in 1986. He worked at Seafirst Bank in Sequim and Port Townsend, for Interwest Savings Bank from 1975-1985 then transferred to Seattle where he lived the remainder of his life. He was an active member of the Sequim Jaycees from 1978 to 1987 and was nominated for outstanding member in July 1979. He was also a Sequim City Councilman from January 1980 to December 1985. Through his acts of service in Jaycees Bob became an integral member of the Bacon Bowl Association. He served the association from 1987 till the time of his death. He spent countless hours helping police officers raise money to support local children's hospitals. His commitment to serving others is something he will be fondly remembered for. His favorite acts of service were those he shared with the little ones who call him Grandpa. He was lovingly called "Grandpa Bob" by two grandchildren and hilariously called "Truffle Grandpa" by the others. His grandchildren were his passion. Anyone who knew him quickly learned about his family whom he loved to speak about and spend time with. Also an active gardener and chocolate aficionado, he joyfully shared his knowledge and bounty with friends and family. He is survived by Ruth and their daughter and son-in- law Cami and Josh Pratt of Kenmore, daughter and son-in-law Mikie and Korey Smith of Sequim, and son and daughter-in-law Craig and Dede Knapp of Kirkland, his mother Georgie Knapp, brothers Don and Bud Knapp, sisters Janet Emerson, Joann Knapp and Eileen Martin. He had four grandchildren whom he loved dearly and another grandchild on the way. He was preceded in death by his father, Allison Knapp. Published in The Seattle Times from May 27 to May 28, 2009
