Visitation for Bob will be held on Sunday, July 12, from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the Lone Tree American Legion. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Bob. Sympathy notes may be left for the Forbes family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. The Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services of Lone Tree is handling the arrangements for the Forbes family. Robert Lawrence Forbes was born October 9, 1948 in Iowa City the son of Lawrence and Evelyn (Curtis) Forbes. Bob was a 1966 graduate of Lone Tree High School. In 1968, Bob was united in marriage to Janet Thomas and later divorced. On May 1, 1980, Bob was united in marriage to Maria Dalton in Lone Tree. Bob proudly served his country from 1968 to 2008 in the United States Army and Army National Guard, serving during Vietnam and Desert Storm. Bob was currently working as the Water Treatment Plant Operator for the city of Iowa City and had previously worked for the city of Lone Tree for 12 years. Bob was a member of the Lone Tree Fire and Rescue since 1983, the Lone Tree American Legion Post #457 since 1972 and dearly loved to fish and bowl. . Bob will be deeply missed by his wife, Maria of Lone Tree; his children, Teri Hinrichs and her husband, Bob of Lone Tree, Joe Forbes of Chicago, Jason Forbes of West Liberty, Tracy Forbes of West Liberty and Robbi Forbes of Knoxville; three grandchildren, Zachary, Erin and Andrea and one brother, Mike Forbes of Columbus Junction. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jerry.
