He was born July 23, 1928 in Centerville to Rolla Lee and Florence Ulrich Beamer. He married Rosemary Sankot July 31, 1950. A graduate of Catholic Central High School, he served in the Army during the Korean Conflict, and served 19 years in the Army and Air Force Reserves. He owned and operated Beamer Distributing, owned and operated car washes at Econo Foods and on Albia Road next to the Dairy Queen. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #888. Surviving is his wife, Rosemary; a son John Robert (Karen) Beamer of Albia, a daughter, Connie (Bill) Feldman of Kansas City, MO, 4 grandchildren, Ben Beamer, Jerry Beamer, Andy Feldman and Katie Werth; a brother, Dr. James (Patsy) Beamer of Owasso, OK. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Margaret Marie Beamer, and an infant brother Donald Beamer. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9 a.m. Saturday, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Rev. John Spiegel officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery with military services conducted by O B Nelson Post #3, American Legion, and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
