Interment in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Robert Lee Shively was born on August 18, 1927, in Cresco, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Alva Shively. Robert was raised in the Laurel, Iowa area by Bert and Lena Dunlap. He attended Laurel school, graduating in 1947. Interment in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Robert Lee Shively was born on August 18, 1927, in Cresco, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Alva Shively. Robert was raised in the Laurel, Iowa area by Bert and Lena Dunlap. He attended Laurel school, graduating in 1947. Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1948 and served as Seaman aboard the Destroyer USS McCaffey (DDE 860). He left the Navy as a Boatswains Mate in 1952 with Korean Service, Navy Occupation, and China Service medals. Bob lived around the Marshalltown area and worked at firms including Arbie Feeds and Hy Vee Food. Bob was very active in the community service with the American Legion, as past Post Commander of American Legion Post 46, Toys for Tots drive, Kiwanis, Salvation Army Advisory Board, Veterans Administration Clinic volunteer, and others. He always enjoyed putting on his Santa Claus suit for Marshalltown kids at Christmas. Bob was a member of New Hope Christian Church in Marshalltown where he and Deloris were faithful prayer warriors. Robert was preceded in death by wife Nellie Shively, and most recently by his wife Deloris Newkirk Shively. He is survived by stepdaughter Joyce (Roger) Grummer of Latimer, Iowa, stepson Charles (Holly) Deam of Springville, Iowa, five grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.
