Robert L. ‘Bobby" Gayken, 70, died Saturday, October 2, 2010 at his Lennox residence due to an apparent heart attack. Robert Lee Gayken was born in Lennox, SD on January 7, 1940 to Minnie (Stack) and Tony Gayken. He spent part of his growing up years with his aunt and uncle, Dick and Bertha Stack. He went into the US Air Force and that is where he met his wife of 50 years, Lynn Host. Bobby worked for Henry Carlson Co for nearly 50 years. He also had his own concrete business for nearly 20 of those years. He retired in 2005. He enjoyed working hard and had many good friends through the years. Currently he had been working for the City of Lennox at the rubble site. He enjoyed looking over his hometown for improvements. Bobby was a member of Brethorst-Burma American Legion Post #174 in Lennox and was a veteran of the US Air Force. Those grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Lynn; his children all of Lennox: Brenda (Tim) Ferguson, Tony Gayken, and Emily (Jeff Brasel) Gayken, grandchildren: Suzanne, Brandon and Alyssa Ferguson and Micheala and Jazlyn Gayken; one great-grandson, Zane Ferguson; brothers: Gary (Linda) Gayken, Jim, Mike, and Matt Bickett and sister, Linda (Bickett) Mortenson also many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. He loved his family more than anything. He was a great man who will be truly missed. He was the best of the best.
