Robert Lee Clark Jr. was born October 1, 1929, the son of Robert L. Sr. and Orpha E. (Schwartz) Clark, in Kenmare, ND. He was raised in Burke and Ward counties where he attended country school; he lived with his aunt and uncle Ruby and Carl Aukerman while he attended Bowbells High School, graduating in 1947. Clark Jr., 86, formerly of Bowbells and Minot, ND, died Saturday, December 19, 2015, in his granddaughter’s home, Mandan. Robert Lee Clark Jr. was born October 1, 1929, the son of Robert L. Sr. and Orpha E. (Schwartz) Clark, in Kenmare, ND. He was raised in Burke and Ward counties where he attended country school; he lived with his aunt and uncle Ruby and Carl Aukerman while he attended Bowbells High School, graduating in 1947. Bob enlisted in the United States Army on May 10, 1951. He proudly served his country during the Korean War and was honorably discharged April 15, 1953. Bob married Ragnhild June Ardella Aune August 12, 1950, in Bowbells. They made their home in Bowbells, where he was employed by the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Bowbells, where he served on the council. He served numerous terms on the city council and was a member of the Bowbells American Legion, Lions Club and the local Snowmobile Club. He worked with the local Cub Scouts and enjoyed helping several local farmers during springs work and harvest. He enjoyed bowling and dancing. In 1974, Bob and June moved to Glenburn, ND where he continued to work as a rural mail carrier. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, where he also served on the church council. In 1984 Bob and June moved to Minot and he commuted to Glenburn where he continued to deliver mail until his retirement in July of 1989. He then went to work part time for Lowe's Garden Center. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and it’s Lutheran Men in Mission. Bob was a “Jack of all trades”. He worked with the local electrician in rural Bowbells when REC was being established in the area, he did texturing and painting, worked for the local mortician, and ran the movie projector for Jim Abraham at the Bowbells Theater. Along with Lyle Sundin he established a museum in Bowbells. Bob was a collector at heart, collecting pens, caps, coins, stamps, Christmas ornaments, tokens, political memorabilia and antiques. His most prized collection was his rock and Indian Artifact collection. He spent many hours walking area fields in search of arrowheads and hammers. He was a gardener, woodworker and artist and loved to share his works with family and friends. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his sons, grandsons, brothers and nephews. Many good fishing/hunting memories were made. His favorite time of year was Christmas. A tree decorated with ornaments he had crafted could be found in every room of his home, sometimes several per room. Bob’s last days were spent in the home of his granddaughter surrounded by his loving family and his favorite Christmas decorations. To Bob his family was his greatest blessing in life. He treasured the time spent with his children and grandchildren playing cards and telling stories. The love of his life passed away in September 2008. During her illness Bob made daily visits to the nursing home to feed June, hold her hand and tell her how much he loved her. He truly exemplified the true meaning of his marriage vows. Surviving family includes: children, Vickie (Rolf) Aufforth, Bowbells; John (Laurie) Clark, Dayton, Wyoming; JoAnn (Ronald) Schepp, Coleharbor; Jay (Kerry) Clark, Velva; and Bruce (Heidi) Clark, Minot; grandsons, Roelf (Patches) Aufforth, Douglas (Desiree) Clark, Ryan (Lisa) Aufforth, Jonathan Howell, Kyle (Annie) Hibbs, Matthew Enget, Alex Howell, and Daniel Clark; granddaughters, Allison (Jason) Palmer, Robin (Norman) Rosendahl, Kelly (Bob) Potter, Rachel Aufforth, Jennifer Enget, Megan Hibbs (Dan, Falconer) and Taylor Clark; great grandchildren, RJ, Rylee and Remington Aufforth, Kristi Medalen, Taya, Kenna and Kiley Aufforth; Brady, Jaelynn, Brenden and Colton Palmer, Breein Nelson, Logan and Skylar Potter, Mikaela Enget; Donovan and Dominic Clark, Angel and Nikki Phipps, Julia and Josh Zeller; and Trace Howell; 4 great-great grandchildren; brothers Carlin (Jack) Clark and Larry (Kathy) Clark; sisters, Dorothy (Christian “Duke”) Feldkercher, and Karen (Art) Layton; brother-in-law Dean Wheeler; sister-in-law Shirley Clark and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, June; parents, Robert L. Sr. and Orpha E. Clark; father-in-law and mother-in-law John and Ragnhild Aune; son Jerome; grandchildren, Kristi Aufforth and Eric Enget; brothers, Donald and Jim Clark; sisters, Faye Clark and Gloria Wheeler.
