Born Jan. 17, 1926, in Salisbury, to the late Cecil Lee Foster and Beulah Kluttz Foster, he was a graduate of Mount Ulla High School, Mount Ulla, in 1943. Born Jan. 17, 1926, in Salisbury, to the late Cecil Lee Foster and Beulah Kluttz Foster, he was a graduate of Mount Ulla High School, Mount Ulla, in 1943. He later graduated from National Correspondent School. Mr. Foster was a Carman from 1946 to 1986 for Norfolk Southern Railroad in Spencer, and Danville, Va. Mr. Foster was baptized into the Lutheran Church and was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Salisbury, Ascension Lutheran Church, Danville, Va. and King of Glory Lutheran Church, N. Myrtle Beach, S.C. He was also a member of The Brotherhood of Railway Carman. Other than his parents Mr. Foster was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Earnhardt Foster, who passed away July 21, 2003; and his sister, Mary Elizabeth Thompson of Salisbury. Those left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Anita Foster Clayton and husband Rudolph of Glasgow, Va., Robin Foster Howard and husband Robert of Salisbury; and two grandchildren, Hannah E. Howard and David R. Howard. Visitation: There will be a family gathering Monday, June 6, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Summersett Funeral Home in Salisbury, NC. Service: The funeral service will be held grave side 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Salisbury, NC. Memorials: Memorials may be made to The King of Glory Lutheran Church in N. Myrtle Beach, SC or to Ascension Lutheran Church, Danville, VA. Summersett Funeral Home is serving the Foster Family.
