He was born July 5, 1925 in Calamus, Iowa, the son of Carl V. and Viola C. (Peters) Porth. Robert was united in marriage to Darlene Naughton July 31, 1946 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. The couple farmed in the Calamus area. Darlene preceded him in death February 2, 1999. He was born July 5, 1925 in Calamus, Iowa, the son of Carl V. and Viola C. (Peters) Porth. Robert was united in marriage to Darlene Naughton July 31, 1946 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. The couple farmed in the Calamus area. Darlene preceded him in death February 2, 1999. Robert was a member of Ss Philip and James Catholic Church, Grand Mound, and the German American Club of which he was a former Vice President. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, DeWitt, the Loyal Order of Moose and the Benevolent and Protect Order of Elks. He enjoyed dancing. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Clare (Scott) Smith, Calamus, and Kathy Porth, Wind Lake, Wisconsin; two sons, John Porth, Calamus, and Don (Sandy) Porth, Burlington, Iowa; five grandchildren, Graham and Catherine Porth and Caven, Caitlin and Shea Smith; a great grandson, Jacob Porth; two sisters, Bette (Windham) Hill, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Dorothy (Don) Kettering, Davenport, Iowa a brother, Richard (Betty) Porth, DeWitt, Iowa. In addition to his wife, Robert was preceded in death by his parents. Family and friends may visit at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound, from 2 until 6 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2006. Liturgy of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2006 at Ss Philip and James Catholic Church, Grand Mound. The Rev. Fr. David Brownfield presiding. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Grand Mound.
