Description	:	Robert L. Zerfas, 83, died Sunday January 14, 2007 at Madison Communtiy Hospital. Robert Leo Zerfas was born to Walter F. and Ellen F. (Coney) Zerfas in Watertown, SD on February 11, 1923. Bob grew up and attended school in Watertown graduating from Watertown High School. When he was 18 years old he volunteered to serve his country by joining the United States Navy on September 29th 1942. Zerfas, 83, died Sunday January 14, 2007 at Madison Communtiy Hospital. Robert Leo Zerfas was born to Walter F. and Ellen F. (Coney) Zerfas in Watertown, SD on February 11, 1923. Bob grew up and attended school in Watertown graduating from Watertown High School. When he was 18 years old he volunteered to serve his country by joining the United States Navy on September 29th 1942. He served on two submarines, the USS Ray Submarine Division 3 and the USS Redfish Submarine Division 3. While on leave from the war, Bob was united in marriage to Lois Jean Natz in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 1945. Bob returned to the war and finished his tour of duty. He was honorably discharged on December 16, 1945. Bob and Lois made their home in Watertown, South Dakota, where they raised 13 children; 7 boys and 6 girls. In 1968 Bob and Lois moved their family to Madison, South Dakota when He was transferred to manage the meat department at Spies Super Valu. He retired in 1972 He is survived by his wife, Lois, of Madison; his children, Collette Broveleit of Sioux Falls, Gregory (LouAnn) Zerfas of Sioux Falls, Daniel (Terry) Zerfas of Sioux Falls, Thomas (Stephanie) Zerfas of Aberdeen, Colleen (Ralph) Janssen of Ripon, WI, Michelle (Kenny) Workowski of Viola, WI, Douglas (Noi) Zerfas of Baltimore, MA, David (Ann) Zerfas of Madison, Francine (Royston) Zerfas-Coppenger of Brooklyn, NY, Annette (Craig) Miller of Madison, Paulette (Mike) Janssen of Princeton, WI, Mark (Lisa) Zerfas of Sioux Falls, and Andrew (Laura) Zerfas of Brookings. He is also survived by his two sisters, Mary Claire Zerfas of Peoria, IL and Rita Kalb of Mesa, AZ; 25 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, January 18, 2006 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Arrangements by Weiland Funeral Chapel.
