He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army from November 1952 and was discharged as a Sp.5 on Oct. 31, 1960. He received the Purple Heart Medal. He had worked for Wilson Trucking in Minneapolis for a few years. He had lived in Knoxville, Iowa, for more than 20 years. He enjoyed watching football. He is survived by two sisters, Jennifer B. and her husband, Fabian Correa of Colona, Ill., and JoAnn Mowery of Rock Island, Ill.; a niece and her husband, Danielle and Gerald Carter of Colona; a nephew, Michael Terronez of Colona; two aunts, Shirley Rasmussen and Marcella Cline, both of Cherokee; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Extra information: Robert was raised by stepfather Lloyd Ellsworth Redman from age around 4, his mother's second and final husband. His birth father was Charles C. Bowers. He had one brother, John aka Jack Bowers, and sisters from the Redman marriage. The aunts mentioned in the obituary are his mother's sisters.
