Gerry Kahler officiating. Interment in the Conrad Cemetery in Conrad. Robert Leslie Slinker was born on February 27, 1925, the son of Charles and Elizabeth (Wiener) Slinker in rural Conrad. Gerry Kahler officiating. Interment in the Conrad Cemetery in Conrad. Robert Leslie Slinker was born on February 27, 1925, the son of Charles and Elizabeth (Wiener) Slinker in rural Conrad. He graduated from Conrad High School in 1943. Robert married Muriel Bixby on December 12, 1943, in Princeton, Missouri Robert served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 as a Quartermaster 3rd Class. Later, he was employed by Frazenburg Meat Locker and purchased the business in 1978 and sold it in 1996. Robert continued to work part-time at Hy-Vee until 2013. He was a member of the Conrad United Methodist Church where he served as a Trustee, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and served as president of the American Legion Post 681, VFW, 40 & 8, and Voiture #171. Robert served as a former chief on the Conrad Fire Department, was a member of the Lion's Club, and was a constant at the Conrad Stags/Lamb Fries. Robert is survived by his daughters Joan (Bruce) Appelgate of Gladbrook, Iowa, and Jenifer Murty of Conrad; son Jack (Kathy) Slinker of Indianola, Iowa; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Inez Slinker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel; son James; two brothers, Russell and Don; and sisters Mildred Winkel Harms and Dorothy Mowery. The Conrad Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Homes.
